Position Summary

The Associate Licensed Mental Health Therapist is a core member of the HopeSparks Behavioral Health Department which focuses on treating Depression, Anxiety, Behavior, and Trauma, serving the pediatric population (3-21) and their primary supports (i.e. parents and caregivers) in a community mental health agency.

The Associate Licensed Mental Health Therapist must be committed to delivering evidence-based behavioral health interventions to children, youth, and families within a community mental health agency. The location and service delivery may vary depending on the client's or family's needs. Services may be clinic-or-community-based and may be delivered in person or via telemental health.

HopeSparks is a proud member of the Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs (WCSAP) and is contracted to provide specialized sexual assault services to children, youth, and families through the Office of Crime Victim Advocacy and the Children's Advocacy Center at MaryBridge. Associate Licensed Mental Health Therapists may be supported in attending training to deliver these specialized services which may be clinic-or-community-based and may be delivered in-person or via telemental health.

The Associate Licensed Mental Health Therapist will be provided an abundance of resources for delivering evidence-based behavioral health interventions to children, youth, and families within a community mental health agency including:

Weekly supervision with an assigned Clinical Supervisor
Weekly Clinical Team Meeting
Access to reflective supervision
Continued training and consultation in evidence-based practice
Ongoing training and professional development opportunities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical Work

Must be able to engage children, youth, and families in a full range of community mental health services either in-person or via telemental health (through video and/or phone conferencing) including:
- clinical assessment
- problem identification
- need for medical necessity (DSM 5 criteria/justification)
- evidence-based treatment modalities
- support and referrals to crisis intervention
- individual/family therapy
- case management
- advocacy
- outreach/prevention and intervention
Meet productivity and/or agency client expectations
Complete all paperwork such as treatment plans, diagnostic information, treatment notes, and other necessary case documentation in a timely manner according to policy
Demonstrate clinical competence by interacting with clients in an ethical and professional manner and using supervision and group consultation as necessary and recommended

Qualifications

Clinical Associate Licensure in Social Work
Experience working with children, youth, and families
- Training in evidence-based practice preferred
- Training in trauma-informed care/understanding of trauma stewardship preferred
Expertise working with preschool-age children is highly desirable
Exceptional organizational and case management skills preferred
Aptitude in resolving issues and conflicts
Must be reliable, hard-working, and demonstrate a commitment to community mental health
Valid State driver's license, automobile insurance, and dependable transportation
Must pass a background clearance and state patrol check

Job Conditions

All behavioral health services are provided in an agency clinical setting, as appropriate, and/or telehealth based on client needs. Full-time Associate Licensed Mental Health Therapists must be able to function well in a fast-paced, client-centered environment and must be available at least two evenings per week until 7:00 PM.

Ability to observe and assess movement and behavior at mid and close range for evaluation and treatment planning
Ability to use arms, hands and fingers to type for prolonged periods (2-3 hours) daily.
Ability to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods (6-8 hours) daily while working at computer and with clients
Ability to talk and hear/listen to clients and teammates (6-8 hours) daily
Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds (laptop, teaching aids, etc.)
Ability to ascend and descend stairs to access office space
Ability to engage with children while safely standing, traversing uneven ground, and sitting on the floor/ground for extended periods of time (4-5 hours) daily
Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing working environment
Ability to multitask on multiple projects at one time
Ability to relate to multiple audiences (families, children, mental health professionals, etc.)
Close, distant, and color vision, the ability to adjust focus, and depth perception are necessary to complete computer work, provide therapy services to clients and drive to trainings
